Dear Parents,

What a busy Saturday we all had with the fabulous concert in Old Glossop Church in the morning followed by the Family Fun Day in the afternoon. Thank you to everyone who supported or helped run this event. It was a lovely afternoon. The cakes produced by the children were inventive, congratulations to the winners. Well done to Harry and Andrew who ran a lego stall, they are budding entrepreneurs.

Tuesday saw the Sparkle and Shine Show playing to a packed crowd. It was so nice to see all the children enjoying putting on this performance, despite the hall being too hot.

The chicks are growing quickly. They have developed long legs and wing feathers so are not looking like balls of fluff anymore. They will go to the farm on Friday to mature into adult chickens.

Remember we have a bag 2 school collection tomorrow morning so do bring in all your old clothes and shoes.

Eagles are leading our assembly on Friday 3rd July and Harriers the following week the 10th. Please join us if you can.

On Monday the orchestra will be performing for us at 9am do come and listen to how good they now are.

We have a very exciting event on Monday evening when at 5pm we will have Film Night. This is an opportunity for you to see the film made by the children in Y6 as part of the BBC Greatest Generation Project. We will also show some of the films made as part of the Thank You Film Awards some of which were shortlisted. We will show films made by children in Reception, Y1, Y2 & Y4. We do hope as many people as possible will be able to come. There will be popcorn and the press will be there.

Dear Parents,
Firstly my apologies to anyone who has received a strange email from me, unfortunately one of my school accounts has been infected with a virus.  The tech guys are sorting it out and hopefully you won’t receive any more.
As I am sure you have been told we have had ten births in school!  There are ten very cute chicks in the Year One Reception Classroom.
We have had a wonderful musical week over the last week.  The Harriers performed beautifully on Friday showing us just how much they had learned whilst having their wider opportunities lessons.  Please return the forms to let us know if they would like to continue learning any instrument next year as soon as possible.
The Harriers then went to Derby to listen to the BBC Ten Pieces Concert – an amazing experience.  As if that wasn’t enough they have been performing as part of the Glossop Music Festival to other schools.  If you would like to hear the concert they are part of you can on Saturday. It is at Old Glossop Parish Church at 11.30.  The performers need to be there at 10.15.
The children in the choir and who learn instruments performed at our summer concert.  It was a lovely event where everyone was given an opportunity to show off what they can do.  I was so impressed with the musicality of the children.
The children who took part in the rounders tournament had a good time.  Thank you to Mr Warburton for enabling the children to take part in this event.
Remember Saturday is our Family Fun Day 2-4 here at school.  I do hope as many of you as possible can come and support this event.
Next Tuesday is the Year 3s and 4s Sparkle and Shine performance at 7pm.  The children are asked to be at school for 6.40.  The doors will not be open until 6.30pm.  If you have a child in these classes and have not sent back in your ticket request letter please do so soon as possible.  We will be allocating spare tickets tomorrow and you may miss out.
The Ospreys are leading our assembly this Friday, Eagles will be leading it next Friday 3rd July.
The next Bag 2 school collection will be on Friday 3rd July in the morning.  Please bring in any old clothes or shoes.  We are sending bags home tonight but you can send textiles in any bag.
The children taking part in the Sponsored Swim managed 288 lengths between them.  An amazing achievement.  If you would like to make a donation there is still time.
Yours Sincerely

Dear Parents,

What a fabulous week the last week has been with the children loving the red carpet event in Birmingham. The cricket team may not have won a match but covered themselves in glory as the organiser came over to Mr Warburton to praise their behaviour. Scoot and skate was warm but fun, thank you to all the PTA members who helped. The cyclocross team had a great time at their event. As did the cheerleading group, they had been offered the chance to go and work with Tintwistle Primary School who have an award winning cheerleading squad. The children from Tintwistle were very welcoming, were amazing at cheerleading and the event was ‘epic’. Our thanks go out to the staff and pupils for putting on such a great event. As if all of that was not enough we also had the fire brigade in yesterday talking to the Year 2s & 6s.

On Friday 19th June our Assembly will be led by Kites and Harriers will be performing a violin concert for us before they jet off (alright coach off) to Derby for a concert. Do join us if you can. The following week it will be led by the Ospreys.

Next Tuesday 23rd June is our summer music concert at 7pm. There will be no tickets issued for this but everyone is welcome.

Our family fun day is fast approaching, it is on Saturday 27th June at the moment the forecast is good. If you would be able to help with this event please let the office or a member of the PTA know. The last few PTA meetings have been poorly attended and we need more people to offer to help at all our events.

There will be no school organised after school clubs next Tuesday 23rd as all the staff have meetings. PAS will still be on. School run clubs will finish on Friday 10th July.

Here is a message from one of the children organising the sponsored swim – Tommy says ‘My brother was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes last year and I want to raise money to help find a cure for it. Some of my friends (James and George Allen, Freya Conway and Erin Hilton) also have relatives with diabetes and so we have agreed together to try and raise as much as possible for Diabetes UK. We are going to swim for a full hour at Glossop Swimming Pool and do as many lengths as we can. If you would like to sponsor us there is a sponsor form in school reception or you can donate at www.justgiving.com/Janette-Dunkerley or www.justgiving.com/Jennifer-Allen15 all our money collected will be put together, so it doesn’t matter how you choose to donate. Thank you very much’

Howard Park are organising a Teddy Bear’s Picnic on June 28th 2-4pm. This is a good event.

We are always keen to have feedback about the school so we would ask you to complete the questionnaire you can find at http://goo.gl/forms/AXLs6RmglD you can fill one in for each child you have with us.

Early warning that we will not be sending books home in the summer as the new assessment system requires us to evidence progress in work which is only possible with the children’s work. We will send work home later in the year.
