St Luke’s CE Primary School Newsletter

20.7.23

Dear Parents & Carers,

I cannot believe it has come round so fast, my last newsletter to you after 13 years at St Luke’s.  I have been so lucky to do a job I love.  I have felt privileged to be allowed to come to work every day and work with your amazing children.  Thank you for all the support you have given me to enable me to work for your children.  We may not all have agreed all the time but I have always known that we are working for the same thing, the best for the children, and we have always been able to work things out.  Thank you for all the help you have given at events, the support at things like concerts and sporting events.  Most of all thank you for your cheery greetings every day.  I am going to miss you all.  I am going to miss your children so much.  I know however that Mrs Rogers is looking forward to taking over in September.  I know she will take the school on new adventures and that you are in safe hands.

I am attaching 3 things.  An offer for a stamp for children’s belongings so when they lose them we can reunite them! This will raise money for the PTA.  And two leaflets about what’s on over the summer.

It wouldn’t be a newsletter without a nag!  Please make sure you pay any dinner money you owe before we finish for summer.

I hope you have a lovely summer.  I wish you all well for the future.

Stay happy and healthy

St Luke’s CE Primary School Newsletter

13.7.23

Dear Parents & Carers,

Huge congratulations go out to the children in Eagles and Merlins who treated us to an outstanding production of Hagbane’s Doom.  They clearly put a lot of work into it.

The children in kite’s had a wonderful trip to Mossy Lea last Friday and I was delighted to hear how well behaved they were and how much of a credit they were to you and the school.

Yesterday the children in Y5&6 were treated to a performance by The Buxton Opera House Young Players.  They thoroughly enjoyed it and after their performance fully understood what was involved.

On Monday one of Glossop library’s librarians came in to talk to the children about the summer reading challenge.  Do go into the library and sign your child up for this.

The PTA organised a fantastic Treasure Trail on Saturday with flamingos and cats and all manner of other things.  It was a really nice family event culminating in a picnic on the field, until the rain came down!  Thank you to everyone who put in so much hard work to make this happen.

The next PTA event is the disco next Wednesday 19th July. 5-6.30.  See the poster attached.

Remember the summer concert featuring the choir and musicians on Tuesday 18th July.

This week is the last week of toast.  Thank you to all the parents who have helped make this Friday treat for the children.

During the first week of the holiday Mel is running a comedy workshop at school.  I am attaching details of what she will be covering.  If you have a budding comic actor or comedian do think about signing them up for this by contacting Mel on melashton@sky.com

We have just been informed by the catering service that the cost of school meals is rising from September to £3.25 a day.  They are sorry but feel they have to do this to cover the rising costs they face.  They assure us that this rise only covers costs and does not make a profit.  Remember children in Key stage 1 all receive free school meals.  If your child will be in Key stage 2 or above from September, you can see if you are eligible for free school meals by logging on to derbyshire.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals

St Luke’s CE Primary School Newsletter

6.6.23

Dear Parents & Carers,

I hope you are all well.  The term feels like it is galloping towards the end with so many things happening across the school.  Walking around school inside and out makes me very proud of the young people who come here who know what it takes to be a good learner and member of our community.

The proactive Young leaders from Dinting Primary School have asked us to help them with their community action.  They would like you to collect up all the school uniform your children no longer need and donate it to the Hummingbird Project.  This is such a good thing to do I am sure all of you would like to help with this.  I am attaching a flyer they have asked me to share with you with more details.

The deadline for ordering fruit for the children in Y3-6 next school year is tomorrow 7th July.  If you haven’t let us know your child wants fruit by then we may not be able to provide it.

Please make sure your dinner money is paid up to the end of term.

After school clubs finish this week and so does swimming for Eagles and Peregrines.

Tickets for the Year 5/6 production Hagbane’s Doom should be with you by today.  We do still have some space on Tuesday afternoon and evening so if you would like extra tickets just let us know.

On Friday Kestrels will be leading our collective worship.  I will send out the code word for their assembly in the morning.  Harriers will be leading it on Friday 14th July.

The next PTA event is on Saturday 8th July when they have planned a treasure trail.    It will start at school and the trail will lead you around Glossop hunting for clues.  It will end back at school where you are welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy some social time together. Come to school at any time between 10-11.30 to be given your instructions for solving the clues.  Please see the attached poster.

Remember on Tuesday 18th July at 7pm we are holding our annual summer concert where the children in the choir and those who learn instruments entertain us.

There is a meeting for parents of next year’s Reception class on tonight 6th July at 6pm.  Everyone is looking forward to meeting you.

Stay happy and healthy
